What it does
TASMAC prices are set by law. Search any brand, typos included, and read the MRP with the ₹10 bottle deposit already added, so the counter total is known before you are in the queue.
Every shop is counted through the trading day. Open a bottle and see the nearest shops carrying it with stock depth and walk time; open a shop and read its shelf.
Save a bottle plus its size as a usual. When it is back within reach you get one ping, never one per sweep, and silent hours are respected.
The whole catalogue lives on the phone, in English or Tamil. At a counter with zero bars the fixed price still answers; stock and distances resume when you are back online.
Mark an overcharge in about five seconds, anonymously. The shop’s tally is public, so the next person walks in knowing. The official channels are listed too.
The nightly Pulse turns the day’s stock-count differences into an estimate of bottles rung up, by district and category. On 21 September it was 76.5 lakh bottles across 3,945 reporting shops.
How to install
- Android. Open Sarakku on Google Play and tap Install. Android 8 and later.
- iPhone. Install Apple’s TestFlight app from the App Store, then open the TestFlight join link and tap Install. The App Store listing is under review; TestFlight builds are the same app.
- First run. Confirm you are 21 or older, choose whether to share your location (it never leaves the phone), and pick a bottle or two you usually buy. The map opens on the nearest shops.
What it is not
Sarakku is information only. It does not sell or deliver alcohol, there is nothing to buy in the app, and it is not affiliated with TASMAC. Prices and stock are publicly available figures, swept all day and shown with their freshness. Your location is used on the device for distances and is not stored by us. Is the Sarakku app free?
Yes. Sarakku is free on Android and iOS, has no account and no in-app purchases. It sells nothing and delivers nothing; it is a price and stock reference.
Is Sarakku the official TASMAC app?
No. Sarakku is an independent app and is not affiliated with TASMAC or the Government of Tamil Nadu. It shows publicly available prices and stock counts, swept through the trading day.
Which districts does the app cover?
All 38 districts of Tamil Nadu: 4,852 TASMAC shops are on the map, and the MRP list covers every product TASMAC sells, 1,502 in the current catalogue.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. The full catalogue is stored on your phone, so the fixed MRP and the ₹10 counter total answer with zero signal. Live stock and distances pause until you are back online.
How do I get it on iPhone?
The iOS app is in open beta on TestFlight while the App Store listing is under review. Install TestFlight from the App Store, then open the join link on this page. It will move to the App Store when the review completes.
Does the app need my location?
Only on your phone. Distances and the nearest-shop list are computed on the device; your coordinates are never sent to Sarakku’s servers. You can use the app without granting location; the map then starts from Chennai.
