₹75 to ₹6.98 lakh: the full price range of TASMAC
The same state-run shop that sells a ₹75 beer also lists a cognac at six lakh ninety-eight thousand rupees. Both are on the official price list, both at a fixed MRP, both in principle orderable at a counter in Tamil Nadu. Here is the whole range.
The floor
The cheapest single item in the catalogue is a 325 ml beer at ₹75 — Kingfisher Superior Strong and Max 11000 share the honour. A cluster sits just above at ₹80–₹85.
But the cheapest item is not the cheapest drink. Measured per litre, the winner is super-strong beer in the 650 ml bottle:

For comparison, the cheapest brandy quarter works out near ₹800 per litre. Beer is roughly four times cheaper by volume than the cheapest spirit — which is worth holding next to the fact that Tamil Nadu drinks overwhelmingly brandy anyway.
The middle, where almost everything actually is
The extremes make headlines; the median is what you meet. Of the 886 products sold in the standard 750 ml bottle, half fall between ₹1,390 and ₹3,040, with the median at ₹2,120. The cheapest 750 ml of anything is a fortified wine at ₹360.
And the everyday reality is smaller still: ₹140 buys a quarter of brandy, whisky, rum or gin — the same floor whichever you pick.

The Louis XIII works out at ₹9,97,229 per litre. One bottle costs more than 9,300 of the ₹75 beers, and roughly what a small car costs. It sits on the same statewide fixed price list as a ₹140 quarter.
The oddest thing in the catalogue
Search the list by size rather than price and the largest format is not a bottle at all: 30-litre beer kegs, at around ₹34,000–₹35,000 each. There are two of them, both Belgian craft. At 30 litres a keg is roughly 46 of the 650 ml bottles — and priced like a mid-range single malt.
Why any of this matters
Because all of it is fixed by law and identical in every shop — the ₹75 beer and the ₹6.98 lakh cognac alike. There is no negotiation, no local premium and no "this branch charges more". The only legitimate addition anywhere on that range is the ₹10 refundable bottle deposit.
Which means the entire practical skill at a TASMAC counter is knowing the number before it is said to you. That is a nine-thousand-fold range where every single price is knowable in advance.
