TASMAC shop number list 2026: every district, every number, and how the numbers work
Search "TASMAC shop number list" and you get scanned PDFs of one district from years ago. The list exists, it is public, and it changes: 4,852 shops were on it on 4 September 2026, numbered from 1 to 12,128, across all 38 districts. We read it every night. This is the whole thing, by district, with every number linking to what that shop has on the shelf today.
The list itself
The full list lives at sarakku.in/shops/ — one page per district, every shop grouped by taluk, with its number, locality, and the bottles and products on its shelf at the last count. It is regenerated every night from TASMAC's own shop list, so a shop that opens appears within a day and a shop that vanishes from TASMAC's list for a week is dropped. No PDF goes stale like that.

How TASMAC shop numbers work
The number is an identifier, not an address. It tells you which shop, and nothing about where. Three things follow from the data:
Numbers do not follow districts. Chennai's 381 shops are spread from 1 to 9,189 in five separate blocks. Pudukkottai's 135 run from 6,501 all the way to 11,802. Coimbatore's 284 sit neatly between 1,502 and 2,320 — but that is the exception, not the rule. Two shops with consecutive numbers can be in different districts.
The range is bigger than the count. 4,852 shops occupy a number space that reaches 12,128, so most numbers in the range are not shops at all — closed outlets and gaps from renumbering over the years. A number you find on an old PDF may no longer exist.
Low numbers are Chennai's, mostly. Shops #1 to a few hundred are almost all in Chennai district, which is where the earliest outlets were numbered. #29 is Forum Vijaya Mall in Vadapalani; #419 is 2nd Avenue, Anna Nagar.

The three biggest districts — Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai — hold 896 shops between them, 18% of the state. The five smallest (Perambalur, Thirupathur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur) hold 217. And 199 Elite outlets are spread so unevenly that nine districts have none while Chennai has 70.

Timings, for every shop on the list
Every TASMAC shop opens at 12 noon and closes at 10 pm, every day of the week, in every district. The only exceptions are declared dry days, when all 4,852 shut together — eight dates in 2026. There is no separate Chennai or Coimbatore timing, and Elite shops inside malls keep the shop hours, not the mall's.

Do shop numbers tell you the district?
No. Chennai's shops span 1 to 9,189 in five blocks; Pudukkottai's run from 6,501 to 11,802. The number identifies the shop only. Coimbatore (1,502–2,320) and Erode (3,401–3,963) happen to be contiguous, which is why the idea persists.
